Statement by the Honourable Ahmed Hussen

Ottawa, Ontario, October 26, 2022

Yesterday, the Government of Ontario introduced new housing legislation. We are pleased to see Ontario take action to increase housing supply and affordability. I continue to be in close contact with the Province to move forward on real solutions for housing – focused on our federal plan to increase supply and create more affordable homes.

Through the National Housing Co-Investment Fund, the Rental Construction Financing Initiative, and the soon-to-be announced Housing Accelerator Fund geared at supporting municipalities to build new homes, we are on track to help create hundreds of thousands of units across the country, including right here in Ontario. I look forward to learning more about these measures, as we continue to build on our collective efforts to ensure everyone has a safe and affordable place to call home.
