CMHC Eco Improvement helps homeowners in Canada reduce the cost of energy efficient renovations. It provides a 25% refund on their mortgage insurance premium. If you have a CMHC insured mortgage, you may be eligible after completing at least $20,000 in qualifying upgrades following your home purchase.
A wide range of CMHC-insured homeowners can apply. This includes those with eligible condominium units and prefabricated homes.

By completing eligible upgrades, homeowners may qualify for a 25% mortgage insurance premium refund, while also improving home comfort, reducing energy use, and lowering greenhouse gas emissions.
After closing your mortgage, CMHC-insured homeowners have up to 2 years to submit an Eco Improvement refund application with the required supporting documents directly to CMHC.
