CMHC’s Vendor Diversity Program enhances equal access opportunities that support economic growth for vendors and communities from underrepresented groups. This program allows vendors to:

  • benefit from increased visibility and business opportunities
  • help CMHC deliver the best value to clients through competitive offerings and greater innovation

Businesses owned or led by Canadians from underrepresented groups qualify for the Vendor Diversity Program.

Underrepresented businesses are defined as being owned, operated and controlled by 51% of a given group. We consider businesses that are led by women, Indigenous Peoples, 2SLGBTQIA+ people, persons with disabilities as well as Black and racialized people examples of underrepresented groups.

To be included, vendors must have a current diversity certification from one of the certifying organizations for inclusion into the program:

  • Canadian Aboriginal & Minority Supplier Council
  • Canadian Council for Indigenous Business
  • Canadian Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
  • Inclusive Workplace and Supply Council of Canada
  • National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce
  • National Minority Supplier Development Council
  • WBE Canada
  • WeConnect International
  • Women’s Business Enterprise National Council

Registered vendors benefit from increased visibility in the organization’s procurement activities. Registration also increases the chances of being invited to participate in our procurement opportunities.

How do I know my registration was completed?

You will receive an automated email confirmation that your company is now registered in our vendor database once you have successfully completed your registration.

What are CMHC’s expectations of vendors?

Here is CMHC’s Vendor Code of Conduct: Vendor Code of Conduct (PDF).

How do you select vendors?

We select vendors who can:

  • provide a product and/or service that meets our needs

Our procurement process is competitive to ensure the acquisition of goods and/or services meet operational requirements and result in receiving the best overall value, in a transparent and fair manner.

  • visibility to possible purchasers through vendor databases, events and networking opportunities
  • enhanced brand image as a certified business

Additional benefits offered by certifying organizations may also include training, recognition, awards and networking connections.

Why should I register with CMHC if I am already certified by a certifying organization?

CMHC does not have access to business-level information from all certifying organizations. You guarantee that your company information will be available to CMHC for new procurement opportunities by registering with us.

Do I get additional points for being a diverse vendor?
