Phishing Campaign

Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) is aware of a phishing scam claiming that we are providing $80,000 as a free grant through the “CMHC Grant Program.” The message, generally delivered via Facebook Messenger, gives a number to text to apply, in exchange for a delivery or administration fee.

This is a common phishing scam. There is no such program. CMHC does not give personal grants nor do we ask for fees or information through text message.

The Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC) is the central agency in Canada that collects information and criminal intelligence on these matters. The CAFC website provides resources and tools to protect yourself as well as a method to report incidents.
