In instances of legal name change due to marriage, divorce, etc., the issuer should provide evidence to the cover pool monitor.
If the names on the documents are different, examples of evidence may include a marriage certificate or proof of legal name change. In instances where the issuer cannot provide such evidence, the cover pool monitor can cross-reference documents in the loan file to confirm that it is the same person. For example, if the Registered Mortgage document shows the marital name and birth name is used on the Title document, the cover pool monitor can validate that the two names are the same person via the Social Insurance Number (SIN) or identifications issued by government (with matching photo and date of birth) when SIN is not available.
