Residential Building Permits Issued but Not Started (Pending Starts Units)

Data in this table shows the number of units where a building permit has been approved and issued, but a construction start has not yet taken place. As a supplement to CMHC’s monthly Starts and Completions Survey data, this information helps in monitoring upcoming new housing construction activity. It can be used to support planning, forecasting and policy decisions.

Data in this series is published monthly for the following geography levels:

• Census Metropolitan Areas (CMA)
• Large Census Agglomerations (CA) of 50,000 population or more
