The CMHC President’s Medal for Outstanding Housing Research recognizes a significant research contribution that helps us achieve our vision that everyone in Canada has access to a home that they can afford and meets their needs.
IMPORTANT
The initiative focuses on completed or near completed research activities.
This research:
    - increases knowledge in one of the National Housing Strategy’s priority areas

    - addresses a priority action area identified by CMHC’s President — this year the theme is  Accelerating Housing Supply Through Construction Innovation

Your research should aim to address these questions:
    - Does the research help promote construction innovation that will work towards increasing housing supply by transforming the construction industry, making it more efficient, sustainable and affordable?

This year’s President’s Medal theme seeks to highlight research that advances our understanding of:
    - building science concepts

    - new materials

    - construction techniques

It will showcase practices that:
    - optimize the construction process

    - improve productivity

    - deliver high performing and resilient housing

Examples of research eligible for this award include:
    - Technology and automation that improve project management and enhance capabilities in designand construction

    - Offsite and prefabrication methods, including modular homes, mass timber housing and panelized systems.

We’ll also consider construction innovations addressing the unique challenges of specific geographies, such as the North.
