2026 President’s Medal

This year, the President’s Medal theme is "Modernizing Canada’s Housing Industry". We’re looking to profile research with the potential to advance the modernization of housing in Canada — including the application of manufacturing-based production systems to residential construction, characterized by off-site fabrication, standardized and repeatable designs, integration of digital and automated technologies, and coordinated supply chains, with the objective of increasing productivity, reducing costs and timelines, and scaling housing delivery.

Denisa Ionescu of BC Housing and her team deliver DASH, a scalable digital prefab platform that builds mid-rise homes faster, cheaper and greener, transforming Canada’s housing sector.
2025 Gold Roof Award for Housing Research Excellence

Dawn Parker from University of Waterloo and her Urban Growth and Change Research Group use open-source tools and market simulations to study Missing Middle housing feasibility, market impacts and policy across Canada.
2025 Gold Roof Award for Knowledge to Action

Kyle Mennie of Windfall Ecology Centre and his team developed Canada’s first Weather-Ready Home Assessment Protocol with Durham Region, helping homeowners make homes safer and resilient to extreme weather.
