Since 2000, Canada has recognized November 22 as National Housing Day — a day dedicated to raising awareness about housing and homelessness.
As we get ready to observe National Housing Day, we are guided by this year’s theme, “Home is…”. This theme underlines the fundamental role that housing plays in our lives. It’s not just a roof over our heads, it’s the foundation of stability and wellbeing.
This year our focus is also on the need to develop new, creative solutions to make housing affordable for everyone. This calls for a collective effort — across sectors and across orders of government — to make systemic changes and find new ways to address housing affordability.
