Housing Knowledge Centre: CMHC's library of reports and publications

The Housing Knowledge Centre features a collection of published housing literature, publications, statistics and research totalling some 60,000 titles. New documents are added regularly. It is the most up-to-date and comprehensive library of housing literature in Canada.

Search the collection to:

• find evidence-based best practices and lessons learned
• gain insights into housing needs
• discover ideas for housing solutions

It includes both digital and print reports, periodicals, publications and books on:

• affordable, accessible and sustainable housing
• housing finance
• housing needs, including populations prioritized in the National Housing Strategy
• Indigenous and northern housing
• house design, construction and urban planning

Accessibility at the Housing Knowledge Centre

The Housing Knowledge Centre's website gathers information from a variety of documents, publications and applications created by different authors and third parties. While this can sometimes lead to challenges in meeting accessibility standards, the Housing Knowledge Centre is actively collaborating with partner organizations to enhance the compliance of these materials.

Despite our continuous efforts, certain portions of our web content might not be entirely accessible.

This includes:

• documents exclusively available in PDF format
• scanned documents
• pages that display inconsistent designs, navigation or features

We are ready to provide alternative document formats upon request*. To request a document in an alternate format, please send us an email.

* There may be times where alternate formats are impractical due to technical or cost limitations.

• Over 25,000 digital items can be accessed directly though the Library Catalogue
• Print materials can be requested through interlibrary loans at your local library.

Our digital collection includes more than 200,000 images of houses and neighbourhoods from different towns and cities all over the country. It includes a variety of pictures, including:

• single-family homes
• multi-unit buildings
• northern and on-reserve housing

These images were taken between 1955 and 1999.
