The core housing need data allows CMHC and housing agencies to create programs that help Canadians find acceptable housing.
On November 22, 2017, the Government announced an $82+ billion National Housing Strategy. It helps reduce homelessness and improve the availability and quality of housing for Canadians in need.
This includes more than $13 billion proposed through the 2020 Fall Economic Statement.
Acceptable housing is a critical component in anyone’s life. For example, having a home helps Canadians:
- stay employed
- do better in school
- participate more in society
Acceptable housing also creates a safer Canada. It provides sustainable economic growth and social inclusion. This, in turn supports a resilient society.
