Summary

Energy-efficient housing can be achieved at costs well within the accepted limits for affordability, while resulting in annual operating cost savings that contribute to affordability over the life of the building. There are various areas in which energy savings can be achieved in new construction and major renovations. Some of these areas address the physical aspects of a building, as well as its electrical and mechanical systems, while others focus on how to harness and conserve different types of energy.
