What is Proposal Development Funding?
PDF offers financial assistance to eligible First Nations to assist in the development of project proposals for the On-Reserve Non-Profit Housing Program (Section 95).
Who is eligible?
First Nations or affiliated housing arm of the First Nations that are interested in the acquisition or construction of new or existing housing under CMHC’s On-Reserve Non-Profit Housing Program (Section 95).
What type of work is eligible?
Activities related to assessing the feasibility and to the development of a project, such as:
- Best buy, viability, and need and demand analyses
- Soil tests
- Drawings and specifications
- Development permits
- Site selection
- Exploring housing acquisition
- Cost estimates
- Exploring financing options
- Preparation of contract documents
- Management planning
- Membership/tenant development and education
Important: Any activity carried out before application is approved in writing is not eligible.
What type of assistance is available?
The financial assistance is in the form of an interest free repayable loan. The maximum loan amount is $75,000. Additional funding may be available depending on the size of the project.
Other CMHC programs are available on-reserve to assist with repairs to substandard housing (including emergencies), as well as with accessibility modifications and adaptations for seniors and persons with disabilities.
