Core housing need help find vulnerable populations across Canada.
The core housing need data allows CMHC and housing agencies to create programs that help Canadians find acceptable housing. On November 22, 2017, the Government announced a 10-year, $40 billion National Housing Strategy (NHS) that will help reduce homelessness and improve the availability and quality of housing for Canadians in need.
Acceptable housing is a critical component in anyone’s life. For example, having a home helps Canadians:
- stay employed
- do better in school
- participate more in society
Acceptable housing also creates a safer Canada. It provides sustainable economic growth and social inclusion. This, in turn supports a resilient society.
