Am I eligible to work at CMHC?
To work at CMHC you must:
- have the right to work in Canada (any work permits must extend past the employment term)
- be able to pass the requisite government security clearance
- meet the position-specific language requirements
Will I be contacted after applying?
Due to the volume of applications, we only contact selected candidates. If you require an accommodation, please let us know prior to any job-related testing or your interview.
Will I have any assessments/tests as part of the process?
Bilingual positions require testing in one or both official languages prior to an interview. The reading and writing tests are administered online, while the speaking test is done over the phone or in person. If you’ve completed Public Service language testing in the past 5 years, you may submit your results for consideration. For more information, see our Guide to Second Language Proficiency Tests (PDF).
Other tests, presentations, case studies or simulations may be required. We will let you know in advance if this is the case.
What is the interview format?
Interviews are in a panel format and usually take 60 to 90 minutes. Questions are behavioural, technical and situational, with behavioural questions based on the competencies found in the job posting. More than one interview may be required. To help prepare for your interview, consult the Behavioural Competencies Library (PDF).
Please bring a list of at least 3 references to your interview. You may provide personal and academic references if you have limited work experience.
What happens if I am the successful candidate?
If you are the selected candidate, the hiring manager will contact you to discuss the offer and a potential start date. Prior to starting your new position, you will need to obtain the required security clearance as a condition of employment.
