Developing the right conditions for everyone to thrive — in our workplace, our products and services — has always been incredibly important for CMHC.
Accessibility is about breaking down barriers so that everyone has access to equitable opportunities to participate in society, including at home and at work. This is why measures like accessible design are so important. They contribute to giving everyone equitable access to barrier-free built and digital environments. This makes everyone feel included and, perhaps more importantly, enables everyone to fully participate in society.
We’re asking for your help
We are dedicated to being fully inclusive, to fight against discrimination, and to embed equity into everything that we do. Continuous improvement is part of our mandate, because the more we learn, the better we can be.
Please take our 5-minute, 7-question survey and tell us how we are doing with accessibility.
Your feedback will help us develop an accessibility plan, aligned with the principles and requirements of the Accessible Canada Act. This plan will outline the steps our company will take to identify, prevent and remove barriers to accessibility and advance disability inclusion at CMHC.
Helping CMHC advance accessibility and inclusion with a plan
The Accessible Canada Act wants to benefit everyone in Canada, especially those with disabilities. Its goal is to realize a barrier free Canada by 2040.
We are committed to making the goals of the Act a reality. We’ll do so by introducing strong measures to prevent and eliminate barriers to accessibility in everything that we do. We’ll ensure greater and more equitable opportunities for people with disabilities.
■ CMHC's accessibility plan will be published by December 31, 2022.
