Senior Vice-President, People and Strategy
Describing herself as a “generalist who enjoys having a macro view of the company,” Marie-Claude Tremblay is excited to be leading the newly created People and Strategy Sector as CMHC continues its transition to a modern, agile, digital company.
“My background is not in human resources, so I think it was a courageous decision to put me in this position. I think I bring a different lens to the role, as we work to align our strategic choices with our people and communications. We are already seeing that it makes sense: we are doing a better job of focusing our activities to ensure that CMHC continues to be relevant to Canadians.”
The creation of the People and Strategy Sector coincides with CMHC’s move to a Results Only Work Environment (ROWE). “ROWE changes the interaction between managers and employees – it puts control over work in the hands of employees, which is where it should be. Managers focus on results and employees decide how to achieve them. When I think of the type of work environment I want to be in, now and in the future, this is it.”
A life-long learner, tea connoisseur and voracious reader of both fiction and non-fiction, Marie-Claude lives with her husband and three teenage children in the rural community of Navan. She enjoys regular walks with the family dog, Pénélope, and treasures the precious time the family spends travelling together in Canada and abroad. One of the family’s favourite activities is hiking in the Alpilles, in the south of France.
Marie-Claude holds Master and Bachelor of Law degrees from the University of Ottawa, as well as a Bachelor of Arts (History) from Laurentian University. She was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995.
